Art work has slowed down somewhat these past couple of
weeks. I said that I was going to the allotment to draw but so far I’ve been clearing
edges, helping to sort out accumulated rubbish from inside and behind the shed (two trips to the tip, a third one pending) and liberating rhubarb, raspberry canes and
fruit bushes. It is starting to look a lot less like an overgrown field so I’m
hoping for some of the predicted sun next week and some sketching. In the meantime here is self portrait with shed (after clearing)
I have managed to cut and fold the pages for Artists Books
#20 (?)
And I’ve made a bit of a start on the next project that is happening
in conjunction with the Lancashire Archives. The subject this time is The Preston
Lockout. (A brief history can be found
here)
I’m not sure what I want to make yet but I’ve been playing
with wooden type.
I’m wondering what will happen if I print it on cotton.
Love that the sun is returning for you as it leaves us though this aftermath of summer, autumn, is my favourite season. You are thinking of clearing and rediscovering, planting even and we are thinking of tending and bedding down the garden and ourselves. Winter hibernating - I love it. And need it.
ReplyDeleteClearing and dicovering certainly. I wouldn't have thought that it was possible to grow so many nettles on such a small patch of ground
DeleteI like life and its variety...and unexpectedness! Hope you don't mind, but may I say that as a calligrapher I would turn the N in NO up the other way??? (we always do a lead in serif at the top if that makes any sense!). I also like the 'pay attention' to me message I pick up from it as is, so...
ReplyDeleteThank you. That N has been bugging me. When I got the prints home I knew something was wrong but wasn't sure what. Thankfully the words are still in the galley so I can turn it round and print again next time I'm in the studio
